Description

1 obi : silk ; 13 x 156 in.

Double-sided cream silk brocade maru obi featuring design of brown iris with taupe leaves, 4 off-white feathers, and 2 black pinecones with brown tips and a small black pinecone with taupe tip on a background of thin wavy olive green, brown and lavender stripes. Pattern repeats approximately every 21 in. Design is the same on both sides. Width of obi tapers from 12 in.to 13 in.

History
Worn by Mrs. Kimiyo (Hamamura) Okuno, 1898. Pure silk obi.
