Baido Kai party with guests from Japan to celebrate five students passing exam at Kawafuku restaurant in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles, California, October 27, 1969. Garakunoto Nakajima, a white-haired, older gentleman in dark suit and eyeglasses who is the head of Seihahongakkai, sits in center of front row seated on tatami floor at low tables covered with trays of Japanese food. He is flanked by three women in kimono and one in western clothing, Gasho/Gaeki (?) Takashima, Gatoyo Hirata, and wife Reiko Nakajima. Kayoko Wakita, also known as Baido Wakita, wears a dress in center of second row flanked by her five students who received their certification from Nakajima. They are identified (left to right): Kazuko Urata, Kazuko Asayo, Patti Shirai, Carol Sakamoto, and Setsuko Yamazaki.

Baido Wakita (Kayoko Wakita) presented the Baido Kai Japanese Classical Music Concert at Koyasan on Saturday, October 25, 1969. Five of her students who were certified performed as well as five guest artists: Utashito Nakashima, koto; Chieko Nakashima and Hatsue Ono, shamisen; Takako Osumi, soloist of the Wakita Koto Chamber Orchestra; and Dr. Francis Baxter, director of the Chamber Singers of California State College of Los Angeles.
