H: 19.5 in, W: 25 in

Los Angeles, Calif., 1938

Gift of Hideo Date

Unmatted and unframed.

Two large trees with detailed thick trunks and twisting limbs in foreground; house behind a fence appears in background; mountain visible in distance.

Identical image in lithograph signed "SMW", "S Macdonald Wright" and dated 1938 by Stanton MacDonald-Wright in the collection of Bart Bolin. The work also says "Santa Monica" and measures 20 5/8 x 25 in. Presumbaly Bart's father [Leland] Jim Bolin somehow acquired the piece, probably directly from the artist, although he never studied with Wright at the League.
