Sybil Jordan Hampton, Ed.D.

Retired President, Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation

Sybil Jordan Hampton is a native of Springfield, Missouri. She grew up in Little Rock, Arkansas, and was a member of the second class of black students entering Little Rock Central High in 1959. She has a BA in English Literature from Earlham College; an MS in Education. Teaching from the University of Chicago; and an EdD from Teachers College, Columbia University. Dr. Hampton became the third President of the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation in 1996 from which she retired in 2006. Currently she is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Japanese American National Museum.
