Gordon T. Yamate, Esq., is the Chair, Board of Trustees, and Chair, Executive Committee, of the Japanese American National Museum, and currently teaches CorporateGovernance as an adjunct lecturer in law at Santa Clara University School of Law. He served as Vice President and General Counsel of Knight Ridder until its acquisition in 2006 by The MClatchy Company. In September 2000 he was Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary of Liberate Technologies. In March 1999 he was a partner in the McCutchen, Doyle, Brown & Enersen (now Bingham McCutchen). Mr. Yamate received his law degree from Santa Clara University School of Law and his undergraduate degree in economics and political science from the University of California, Davis. Active in numerous charitable, civic, and cultural organizations, he currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Silicon Valley Community Foundation. He is the immediate past Chair of the Board of Directors of Silicon Valley FACES, and immediate past chair of the In-House Counsel Committee of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association.
