Former Governor, State of Washington
The Honorable Mike Lowry was born in Eastern Washington and graduated from Washington State University. He was elected to Congress in 1978 and introduced the Japanese American Human Rights Violation Redress Act in his first year. He was elected Washington’s governor in 1992. Governor Lowry currently is the pro bono Executive Director of a farm worker homeownership program. He is Honorary Co-chair, with former Governor Dan Evans, of the Washington Wildlife and Recreation Coalition, and co-chair, with Mrs. James Baker, of the National Alliance to End Homelessness. Governor Lowry and his wife Mary live in Renton. Their daughter Diane, son-in-law Scott, and grandsons Tyler and Lucas live nearby.
