Rick Shiomi

Artistic Director, Mu Performing Arts

Rick Shiomi has been one of the leaders of the Asian American theater movement for more than 25 years. He is Co-founder of Mu Performing Arts and has been the group’s Artistic Director since 1993. As a taiko artist he has performed with the San Francisco Taiko Dojo, Katari Taiko of Vancouver, Soh Daiko of New York, and Wasabi Daiko of Toronto. He is the Founder of Mu Daiko in Minnesota and led the group from 1997 to 2010 as a player, director, and composer. He has written a number of compositions, including “Chrysanthemum Dawn,” “Pounding Hooves,” and “Kumano K.”
