Mariko Takagi-Kitayama, Ph.D.

Professor, Aichi Gakuin University

Mariko Takagi-Kitayama currently teaches American Studies at Aichi Gakuin University near Nagoya, Japan, specializing in Asian American history and culture. Dr. Takagi-Kitayama graduated with a degree in Western European History from Waseda University, earned her MA in International Studies at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, and received an MA and PhD in Sociology at University of Hawai`i at Manoa. She has published various articles and papers, including: Haiku/Tanka kara miru nikkei imin no sugata (1930 nen~1960 nen) (2007), Haiku/Tanka/Senryu wo toushite miru Issei josei no shinjou: Hawai shakaishi no ichi peigi toshite (2008) Fuyo-Kai: washinton daigaku ni okeru nikkei joshi gakuseikai to nichibei senso and Fuyo-Kai: Japanese American Women Students at University of Washington in WW II Years (forthcoming).
