Christy Sakamoto

Supervisor of Visitor Engagement, Japanese American National Museum

Christy Sakamoto is originally from Orange County, California, and attended UCLA, majoring in History. She received her master’s in Library and Information Studies with an Asian American Studies concentration, also at UCLA. Ms. Sakamoto currently works at the Japanese American National Museum as the Supervisor of Visitor Engagement. In her spare time she serves on the boards of the Japanese American Historical Society of Southern California, the Grateful Crane Ensemble, LT Roots, and she chairs the Asian Pacific Alumni of UCLA scholarship committee. She is the recipient of the Association of American Museums 2011 Diversity Fellowship and the 2009 California Association of Museums Emerging Museum Professional Fellowship.
