Director, Japanese Peruvian Oral History Project & Campaign for Justice: Redress Now for Japanese Latin Americans!

Grace Shimizu is Director of the Japanese Peruvian Oral History Project and the Campaign for Justice: Redress Now for Japanese Latin American Internees! She is a leading advocate for former Japanese Latin American internees, working with them to document and preserve their World War II experiences and to secure U.S. government accountability for these war crimes. Ms. Shimizu has also coordinated collaborative projects among Japanese, German, Italian, and Latin American communities as well as Arab, Muslim, and South Asian communities to promote dialogue and draw relevant lessons from the past to connect them to present-day challenges.
