Senator Daniel K. Inouye is the third most senior member of the U.S. Senate. First elected in 1962 and serving his eighth consecutive term, he co-chairs the Senate Commerce Committee and is the ranking Democrat on the Senate Defense Appropriations Subcommittee.  His legislative leadership includes Chairman of the Iran-Contra Committee and member of the Watergate Committee. He is a recipient of the highest military award, the Medal of Honor, for his distinguished service in World War II.
