    MAKE YOUR BIDS

This year the JANM Silent Auction is going digital!

Know if you’ve been outbid, no matter where you are. Set up automatic bidding and maximum bids to increase your chances of winning with the items you want!

Visit janmgala.givesmart.com to access and view the silent auction on your mobile phone, desktop, tablet, or laptop (there’s no app to download). Items will be available for preview after 5 p.m. on Friday, April 5, with some surprise packages available for early bidding. All other items will be open for bidding on Saturday, April 13, at 5 p.m. (all times noted are PDT). All you need to bid is a mobile phone number.

If you are attending the Gala Dinner and Silent Auction, we will have plenty of staff and volunteers on hand to answer any questions and assist you in the bidding process.

janmgala.givesmart.com has descriptions and the fair market values for each auction package in our six categories: Wine and Dining; Travel; Sports; Experiences; Home and Electronics; and Beauty, Fashion, and Jewelry. (Package contents listed on the site are subject to change.)

    Tips for Winning:

    • Review the Silent Auction website prior to the event to determine the packages you want to bid on.
    • Be sure to place your final maximum bids prior to the auction closing time (7 p.m. PDT).
    • If you’re attending the Gala Dinner and Silent Auction, we encourage you to register your mobile phone number and credit card information on the website in advance, or provide staff with your credit card information at event check-in. This will help ensure a much faster check-out.

    FAQ:

Can I participate in the Silent Auction if I’m not attending the Gala Dinner?

Yes. If you register on janmgala.givesmart.com, you can access the Silent Auction even if you are not attending the Gala Dinner on April 13. However, off-site bidders will be responsible for paying immediately upon winning, and must cover shipping costs or coordinate pick-up of their items/certificates from the Japanese American National Museum during business hours. (Only domestic shipping can be provided.)

Can I participate without a mobile phone?

If you prefer not to use your phone at the event, you can have our staff and volunteers make your bids for you. Just reach out to any one of us during the Silent Auction and let us know which items you would like to bid on, and your maximum bid amount. Upon the closing of the Silent Auction, please check with us to see if you’ve won your items.

Can I pay by check or cash?

Upon registering your mobile phone number at janmgala.givesmart.com, you will be asked to provide credit card information. Offsite bidders will need to authorize their winning bid charges to that credit card immediately after the auction closes. Those attending the Gala Dinner will be able to pay by check or cash by visiting the cashier station in the foyer at the end of the event, but please note that paying by credit card on your mobile device will ensure a faster checkout.

How do I pick up my items?

If you are attending the event, you will need proof of payment in order to pick up your items at the end of the evening. Please pay your Silent Auction balance by entering your credit card information through the website, or visit our cashier station to pay by check or cash. You will need to present your “PAID” stamp on your online statement to pick up your items on-site.

If you are bidding off-site, you must pay online by credit card in order to coordinate delivery/pick-up of your item. We will contact you regarding any additional balance for shipping costs.

I’ve mistakenly placed a bid. What do I do?

Please ask for assistance from any of our volunteers at the Gala Dinner and Silent Auction.

Can I still donate an item to the auction?

Thank you for your interest but we are no longer accepting items for this year’s auction. If you’d like to donate something for next year, please let us know.

Thank you for your support of the Japanese American National Museum’s 2019 Gala Dinner and Silent Auction.
