Making Manju Rice Cakes

Japanese American Cuisine Series Lecture/Demonstration

Third generation confectionary store owner, Brian Kito of Fugetsu-Do in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles will show visitors how to make manju or wagashi (traditional Japanese rice cakes). Although manju is originally from Japan, it has become a Japanese American tradition to serve manju on special occasions.

The business that Kito’s grandfather and father ran is the oldest one in Little Tokyo, having been established in 1903. A visit to the store will be included in the program. Members $5, non-members $9 includes Museum admission. Reservations required. Limited seating available.

Any Occasion Thank You Cards

Craft class with instructor Ryoko Shibata. Make thank you cards for any occasion using the art of origami (paper folding) and kiri-e (paper cutting).

Members $5, non-members $9 includes Museum admission. Reservations required by January 15.

Nature Prints: Winter Designs

Craft class with instructor Kimiyo Miura. Create original designs on fabric using real flowers and leaves. Bring in a pre-washed t-shirt, apron or other clothing and an assortment of leaves and flowers.
