6 p.m.–8 p.m.: Hello Kitty Cafe Truck will be giving out Hello Kitty bottled water and a donut (one per guest, while supplies last).
8:30 p.m.: Nylon Pink performance
8:30 p.m.–10 p.m.: Hello Kitty crafts—coloring pages, paper dolls, temporary tattoos
Join us as we say farewell to Hello Kitty, whose exhibition closes on May 31. Our festive closing party will feature catalog signings with exhibiting artists, a performance by Nylon Pink, music by DJ Shy, photo opportunities with Hello Kitty, Hello Kitty crafts, the Hello Kitty Café truck, and complimentary appetizers and drinks courtesy of Joto Sake and Chado Tea Room. Hello! Exploring the Supercute World of Hello Kitty will be open for viewing until 10 p.m.
*Artists will only sign Hello! catalog and exhibition prints. 1 catalog and 1 of each print per person.
$10 members, $30 general. JANM members get early access to the closing party starting at 6 p.m.

At the 2015 Gala Dinner, the museum will share its accomplishments of the past year, offer a glimpse into what the coming year holds in store, and remember those from the JANM family who have passed away since the last Gala. And, in recognition of his decades-long standing as an inspirational role model as well as his commitment and contributions to the Japanese American National Museum, actor and activist George Takei will be presented with JANM’s Distinguished Medal of Honor for Lifetime Achievement and Public Service.

Navigate Networking with Vanna Novak
The JACL National Youth/Student Council and Japanese American National Museum are proud to present, Navigate Networking with Vanna Novak. This unique program is perfect for eager Japanese American and Asian Pacific Islander college students and young professionals, entering the workplace in any and all work industries. Vanna Novak is a nationally recognized keynote speaker and seminar leader on persuasive presentation skills and steps to building quality work relationships. Based in Seattle, Washington, she is President and CEO of Speak to Persuade and Co-Founder of the Executive Development Institute. She has been in the business of speaking and training for over 20 years, working with cross-industry teams and individuals from non-profits to major corporations.
Navigate Networking, will be a day to enhance your interpersonal networking skills, discover new ways to communicate effectively, expand your connections, and engage in conversation with leaders in the Japanese American community.

Fresh Off the Boat Season 1 Finale

Fresh Off The Boat: “Blind Spot”
This Tuesday’s episode of the hit Asian American TV series, “Fresh Off the Boat,” will have an LGBTQ theme. JANM is pleased to host a special community viewing of the episode in our Tateuchi Democracy Forum. A panel discussion will follow featuring writer and showrunner Nahnatchka Khan, episode guest actor Rex Lee, author/comedian D'Lo, and artist/organizer Erin O'Brien. The panel will be moderated by filmmaker Curtis Chin.

Hello Kitty Girl Scout Program
This program is sold out.
In this special program just for current, active Girl Scouts, start your visit to Hello! Exploring the Supercute World of Hello Kitty before museum hours and then create your own Hello Kitty–inspired artwork.
$10 per person for scouts or accompanying troop leaders, parents/guardians who are current JANM members; $20 per person for current, active Girl Scouts who are non-JANM members; $30 per person for accompanying troop leaders, parents/guardians who are non-JANM members
Special Hello Kitty JANM patches will be provided to all current and active participating Girl Scouts. Space is limited.
