2007 Fellow

Photographer Eve Fowler makes images of her community of friends and acquaintances, usually gay and transgender women. She describes her interest in photography as a vehicle for “visualizing unapologetically sexual beings.” In addition to traditional photographic prints, she circulates her work in a series of inexpensively photocopied artists’ books, creating open-ended narratives from her catalogue of images. Her expansive practice also includes curatorial work.

Fowler, who has an MFA from Yale, recently had a solo exhibition at Thomas Solomon Gallery, and has been included in a number of group shows in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco.
