Did you know that the Japanese American National Museum is the first museum in the United States dedicated to sharing the experience of Americans of Japanese ancestry?

Dates of interest:
1985: The Japanese American National Museum was officially incorporated.
1992: The National Museum opens to the public in the former Nishi Hongwanji Buddhist Temple in Little Tokyo, a historic district in Los Angeles, CA.
1999: The National Museum expands into the 85,000 square foot Pavilion building.
March 4, 2000: More Than a Game – Sport in the Japanese American Community exhibition opens to the public.
