Did you know that golf was so popular with Japanese Americans that they even built makeshift golf courses in some of the concentration camps?

Dates of interest:
1930s: An Issei golf club called the Yoji Oki ("Get up at 4 a.m.") club is formed.
1938: The Japanese American Citizens League (JACL) hosts its first national golf tournament.
1950s: Nisei Open Golf Tournament held at Pebble Beach, California.
