Did you know that Japanese Americans have engaged in professional wrestling since the 1880s?

Dates of interest:
1920s: Matty Matsuda becomes world lightweight wrestling champion.
1935: Kaimon Kudo, former Seattle Dojo star, wrestles 300-lb. Man Mountain Dean at Olympic Auditorium in Los Angeles.
1950s: The JACL and others try to discourage Nisei wrestlers from portraying negative Japanese stereotypes in professional wrestling.
1964: Harold Sakata, 1948 Olympic silver medal-winning weightlifter turned professional wrestler, stars as "Oddjob" in the James Bond movie, Goldfinger.
