WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Did you know that in 1923, Mrs. Herbert Hoover created a federal panel to investigate the practice of co-educational sports that led to a ban on women's basketball?

Dates of interest:
1930: Japanese American women's basketball teams are formed.
1964: The first year that women and men's basketball teams play according to the same AAU rules.
1984: Colleen Matsuhara appointed Secretariat of Basketball for the Los Angeles Olympic Games. Currently (2000) assistant coach of the Los Angeles Sparks of the WNBA.
