Furniture designer George Nakashima (1905-1990) is known for creating a series of superbly crafted original pieces characterized by their organic use of the natural lines and grain of wood. Nature Form & Spirit: The Life and Legacy of George Nakashima, written by his daughter Mira Nakashima, provides a revealing look at Nakashima's woodworking genius and his extensive influence on contemporary design. The book is lavishly illustrated with archival photos of the family home, vintage catalogs, working drawings and color photographs. Mira, who is carrying on the family business today, also chronicles her father's architectural designs, which included his studio in New Hope, Pennsylvania.
