Walking Tour of US Navy Japanese Language School/University of Colorado, 1942-1946

Location: University of Colorado at Boulder - Reception Desk, University Memorial Center
David M. Hays, Archivist, Director of the US Navy Japanese/Oriental Language School Archival Project, along with Professor Emeritus, Donald Willis and Reverend Robert Bruns (both World War II JLS graduates) will lead a walking tour of the older portion of the campus, featuring those buildings of the University of Colorado at Boulder that were used by Navy school during World War II. The tour will have nine points of interest, which will also feature stories and Q&A.
Transportation: From Market Street RTD Bus Station, 16th and Market, in Downtown Denver, take the B or BX [Express] (Departure Schedule: BX - 0755; B – 0759; BX – 0810; B – 0814). These buses arrive at the Broadway – Euclid Stop near the UMC at CU at 0834, 0857, 0849, and 0910 respectively. Euclid/Broadway -Euclid RTD Stop is located across Euclid from the UMC entrance.
Visitor parking for those with their own vehicles is just east of the UMC on Euclid in the Euclid Parking Structure.
Following the Tour, those returning to Denver can catch the RTD B or BX buses back to the Market Street Station in Denver at the Broadway – 16th Stop across Broadway from the University Memorial Center. Fare is $3.75 each way. Correct change must be tendered. Buses arrive for Denver at 6 after the hour and half hour, increasing in frequency after 1500.
Early arrivals and late returnees may purchase refreshments at the University Memorial Center, which features a full menu of food and drink.
