Joe was born in Stockton, CA and his WWII routing was Turlock Assembly Center, CA; Gila River, AZ; and Crystal City, TX. In 1946, his family relocated just outside of the Crystal City internment Camp area. He graduated from Texas A&M in 1955 with his USAF commission and engineering degree. After navigator school, his major assignments have been Clark Air Base, Philippines; Travis AFB, CA; Air War College, Montgomery, AL; Defense Attache Office, Saigon, RVN (1973-1974); HQ US European Command, Stuttgart, West GE; Military Airlift Command, Scott AFB, IL; and his last assignment was Kirtland AFB, Albuquerque, NM where he retired in 1985. It was during this period that he started his research on the Santa Fe Department of Justice camp. Joe and his wife, Millie, reside in Sun City West, AZ and have three children and three grandchildren.
