Gerald Yamada

Gerald Yamada is a Partner with the Washington, DC law firm of O’Connor & Hannan. He was US EPA’s Principal Deputy General Counsel for 13 years. Before joining EPA, he was an attorney with the U.S. Justice Department, Washington, DC. He organized the Japanese American National Heritage Coalition and successfully worked to have Public Law 109-441 enacted into law. His other community service includes President and Executive Director and former General Counsel, National Japanese American Memorial Foundation; Vice Chair and Secretary to the Board of Governors, Japanese American National Museum; General Counsel and Executive Committee Member, Japanese American Veterans Association; Chief Executive Officer and Treasurer, National Japanese American Political Action Committee; Co-founder and first Co-Chair, Asian Pacific American Heritage Council of Washington, DC; and President for three terms, JACL Washington, DC Chapter. He was born at the Jerome War Relocation Authority Center, Arkansas, May 5, 1944.
