Its offices are located at the Centro Cultural Peruano Japonés in Lima, where are also located the Policlínico Peruano Japonés, the Teatro Peruano Japonés, the Museum, and several other Nikkei institutions' offices. (See also Educational Resources.) The Centro Cultural Peruano Japonés is a non-profit cultural and educational institution that organizes and realizes cultural activities, especially those related to Japanese culture. The Asociación Peruano Japonesa del Perú organizes an annual meeting with similar institutions and with its own branches from all the country, several of which are the following ones. It was confiscated to the Japanese Peruvian community during the war. Its building belongs to a public school at present. The association is composed by Nikkei who studied at Lima Nikko School. Houses permanent exhibits on Japanese immigration to Peru, Japan-Peru relations in Japanese and Spanish languages, and through temporary exhibits shows different aspects of Nikkei community current life. Collection includes artifacts, photographs, and other kind of documents and the archives of 1966 and 1989 Nikkei population survey census. Promotes and produces research about Japanese immigration and themes related, and also organizes activities with the purpose of education. Templo Jionji Address: Cañete city (see Asociación Peruano Japonesa de Cañete) Jionji is an ancient and the only one buddhist temple in Perú. Houses a big number of "ihai" (Names written in "kanji" on one piece of wood belonging to deceased Nikkei people). Buddhist ceremonies take place here. |
