Studio head and shoulder portrait of a smiling young woman, ASBO president Jane Masumura, at an angle, Los Angeles, California, January 20, 1953. Masumura wears a sweater over a white-collared blouse. She looks to the right of the viewer.
When Jane Masumura became the first girl Student Body president three years ago at Stevenson Junior High School, some of her friends gave her aspirations to be a leader at Roosevelt too. The petite Sansei daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Itaru Masumura took top honors recently when she was voted ASBO president in a run-off election over two other candidates. She pens briefly on how she felt following the news of her victory.
