Grace Nakao won a golden thimble the previous year. In 1955, she won two silver thimbles for a four piece mix and match sportswear group, "Salzburg" and a romantic white gown, "Vienna"; she won a scroll of merit for children's wear, "Beachcomber". The Golden Thimble Awards program was held on a Saturday night, November 4, 1955, at the new auditorium of the Los Angele Trade Technical Junior College.
