The Japanese American National Museum Mourns the Passing of Richard Riordan

LOS ANGELES, CA – The Japanese American National Museum (JANM) mourns the passing of Richard Riordan, the former mayor of Los Angeles. He helped JANM secure the Historic Building as the site for the Museum, approved decisions to help move the dream of the Central Avenue Art Park project near JANM forward, and attended the opening of the Pavilion featuring the theme Celebrating the American Experience on January 22, 1999. 

“We are saddened by Richard’s recent passing. His support of the Museum and the Los Angeles Japanese American community through the years was greatly appreciated,” said Bill T Fujioka, chair of the JANM Board of Trustees.
