Japanese Americans in Baseball

This special program celebrates the opening of the traveling exhibition Diamonds in the Rough: Japanese Americans in Baseball. The exhibition’s organizers, the National Japanese American Historical Society (NJAHS) and the Nisei Baseball Research Project, will join the Japanese American National Museum for a tribute to Japanese American baseball players and a ceremonial first pitch.

Curators Kerry Yo Nakagawa and Gary Otake will lead an intergenerational panel of players in a discussion of the 100-year history and legacy of Japanese Americans in baseball. The audience will also have the rare opportunity to meet and take photographs with pioneering Nisei ballplayers.
