Support the Bid for Education

Join us in supporting JANM’s Bid for Education, initiated by the late Senator Daniel K. Inouye in 2000.

This vital program makes it possible for over 12,000 students and teachers to experience JANM’s educational offerings annually. Your contributions fund transportation, museum admission, and facilitated experiences for Title I schools. The fund is incredibly meaningful: for many of these students, a visit to JANM is their only field trip for the year. Your contribution also pays for K–12 educator workshops and resource materials for classrooms so that the lessons can be taught beyond the walls of JANM.

Enhanced in 2020, our program reaches local and national schoolchildren and teachers  with virtual visits and professional development programs. We will continue to serve students during the renovation of our Pavilion. This includes school visits by JANM educators, virtual programs, teacher training and workshops, and a comprehensive upgrade of our lesson plan and educational resources to match the redesign of our core exhibition.

Through your generosity, we have spread JANM’s important lessons about history and the Japanese American experience to over 9,810 students and teachers between July 1, 2024–June 30, 2025. This includes attendance from teacher workshops, outreach, virtual visits, and onsite visits.

Help us expand our impact to even more young people and donate to the Bid for Education today.

We appreciate the ongoing generosity of our donors, who play a crucial role in sharing the lessons of the Japanese American experience nationwide.
