Preview: Interactive StoryFiles of George Takei and more

JANM’s renovated galleries will provide new ways to engage visitors with American history, including new StoryFiles—a groundbreaking storytelling technology that gives students, educators, JANM Members, and the public a realistic experience of engaging with survivors of America’s concentration camps and veterans.

The new interactive StoryFiles feature actor, author, and activist George Takei, camp survivor June Aochi Berk, World War II draft resister Takashi Hoshizaki, and camp survivor Mary Murakami. Learn more how StoryFiles can bring first-person accounts of World War II history to life and celebrate these individuals who have ensured their stories are preserved for generations to come.

JANM Members are welcome to join an early StoryFile preview and meet-and-greet with George Takei and June Berk from 9 a.m.–10 a.m. Not a current Member? JOIN NOW

The StoryFiles of Takashi Hoshizaki, Mary Murakami, and George Takei are presented by the Japanese American National Museum and the National Japanese American Memorial Foundation. The Storyfiles of June Aochi Berk and Lawson Ichiro Sakai are presented by JANM. The project was created with the nonprofit Japanese American Stories and is supported by The Freeman Foundation.

Additional support for the StoryFile of Takashi Hoshizaki comes from the Hoshizaki Family Endowment Fund. The StoryFiles of George Takei and June Aochi Berk are supported by Joanne Watanabe Erceg and in honor of Issei Pioneers: Bungoro & Fujino Morey, respectively.

The StoryFile of George Takei is also on view at the National WWII Museum, New Orleans.
