The Children’s Courtyard is a permanent installation of individual names of children 21 years and younger. Names are inscribed on stone pavers (one name per line in columns) in the Children’s Courtyard at the entrance to the Museum Pavilion. Placement of each name is determined by the date received. Names received by April 30th will be engraved by August of that year; after April 30th names will be engraved the following year.

LOS ANGELES - The National Center for the Preservation of Democracy at the Japanese American National Museum (NCPD@JANM) and Asian Americans Advancing Justice–Los Angeles (Advancing Justice-LA) have selected two artists who will develop new art projects that will explore the theme of anti-Asian hate and racism.
Make a donation to support JANM’s Bid for Education! Funds raised by the Bid for Education are earmarked to support bus transportation and museum admission for primary and secondary school students from Title I schools and groups who have demonstrated financial need. Both school buses and public transportation are eligible for funding. Bid for Education funds also support K–12 educator workshops, the development of free printed and digital resources for educators, docent recruitment and training, and many other educational initiatives.

LOS ANGELES - On this National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, the Japanese American National Museum (JANM) honors the memory of the World War II heroes who died on December 7,1941 when Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. This 80th anniversary is also a stark reminder of the fragility of American civil rights after 120,000 people of Japanese ancestry – most of them US citizens – who were unjustly removed from their homes and incarcerated in remote concentration camps across the nation.
