Join us to welcome the New Year with family and friends
Mochitsuki (Rice Cake Pounding) Performance and Demonstration
Kodama Taiko will combine this age-old tradition of pounding mochi (sweet rice) with the sounds of taiko. Bring your friends and family to enjoy this uniquely energetic performance and taste the freshly pounded mochi.

Koma Workshop
In conjunction with the exhibition, Crafting History: Arts and Crafts from America's Concentration Camps, artist Mineko Grimmer will teach kids how to make a koma (a Japanese top).

Ozoni Tasting
Participants will have a chance to taste ozoni, a Japanese New Year's traditional food dish, provided by Suehiro, a neighborhood restaurant.

New Year Greetings
Make traditional Japanese New Year's postcards with craft master Ryoko Shibata.
